This series of wood decks had recently been added to a waterfront cottage on Mayne Island and the homeowners were looking for a planting design that would survive with predations of both Fallow and Blacktail deer. The resulting scheme combines Russian Sage, Rosemary and Lavender with Rock Rose, California Lilac and ornamental grasses. New serviceberry and birch trees are protected with wire fencing.
